Halloween Challenge, Day 18: Mysterious Box (poem)

12 in the morning, ’twas a knock at my door,

I hurried to see what the ruckus was for…

I opened the door but found no one was there,

Just a box that seemingly came from thin air…

It rattled a bit and gave off a faint glow,

What might be inside?, I just had to know…

I picked it up gently and carried it in,

When set on my table it started to spin!…

The sides came unhinged and the spinning it, stopped,

Then out of the box, a small bunny hopped…

This one was not cute, glowing eyes and clawed feet,

At the horror I know I turned white as a sheet…

It sprang through the window, unbelievably fast,

Out of my sight it ran away at last…

This is a warning, I’m telling to you,

Don’t open strange boxes, whatever you do!

This is my entry for day 18 of the 31 Days of Halloween Challenge (a mysterious box shows up at your door at midnight) hosted over at Flutter by Literature.
