Poetry: Ode to Moon

Golden moon oh how you glow,

Your bloom of light shines cross the night…

Lighting up the ground below,

Revealing such an awesome sight…

Keeping dark from grabbing hold,

You guide us till the morning light…

Each month you’re there through times untold,

Your presence brings us much delight…

So as you set another time,

I hope you’ve liked this little rhyme.

Poetry: Stout Volunteer

Standing stout and very proud,

In this somewhat fertile ground…

Here you see its vibrant blooms,

Warding off some grey day glooms…

Not quite planned, no others near,

Grows this treasured volunteer…

At this sight my day improves,

And many hearts I pray it moves.

I actually snapped this photo just outside my place of work. It made me smile to see the volunteer flowers sprouting up and in full bloom on the grassy hillside near the building where I have not seen anything planted for years. I hope it has brightened your day too!

Poetry:Violet Star

On center stage, this violet star,

Does call to bees, near and far…

“Come close to me, sit a spell,

Take home some sweet, from my well”…

Responding quick, to this call,

Come many bees, large and small…

They don’t stay long, busy bees,

So here she stands, as you please…

The show goes on, day to night,

A beautiful, pretty sight.

Shapes and Petals

[Begin Scene]

5 yellow petals make a pointed yellow star…

Small vines reach forth gripping onto the hexagon grid of green fencing..

Deep green leaves blend into a solid backdrop…

Tiny spines glowing white in the bright sun…

This cucumber garden, a vibrant escape!

As brutal as nature can be, it is nice to see moments like this we can learn from. I snapped this mother mallard and her ducklings this morning on a nearby pond.

Good families do indeed tackle rough waters together. I hope all of you have good families!

Filled with Fire

[Begin Scene]

Bright yellow and orange petals open with the dawn…

Basking in the warmth of early golden rays…

Filled with life, filled with fire…

A welcome sight at this early hour.

[End scene]

Fabric of Our Lives

While the cotton industry wants to you believe cotton is the literal fabric of our lives, in a more metaphorical sense we each have a unique fabric that constitutes our lives.

By that I am referring to the people, interests, jobs, and hobbies that make up each of our lives. No two combinations are quite the same even in the closest relationships. In the next several months I intend to begin adding posts related to a few of the hobbies that are part of my life. One is artistic blacksmithing, though for the time being it will only be fair weather forgework as I don’t currently have a proper shop so can only work when the sun is shining. Another is older video games, the late 90’s and early 00’s were probably the heyday of my gaming life and so I tend to continue playing games from that era even today.

A new installment that you will see pop up weekly, will be a prompted creative writing based upon a single player walk through of the game Diablo 2. It will cover the adventures of various characters as a story related to their struggles and including screenshots from the game. It is less like the walkthroughs you might find elsewhere on the web and more of a creative writing exercise that uses the game structure to provide a backdrop and ideas. Stay tuned and we’ll see how it all unfolds 🙂

Ebb and Flow

I know my posts have been less than regular lately. My devotion to many of my interests rather ebbs and flows over time. With winter here the last few months, there were very few opportunities to capture nice pictures for scenes. Dark and gray with little daylight to see outside of work resulted in a lack of inspiration for poems and posts.

With spring around the corner, I am looking forward once again to capturing and sharing many lovely and relaxing scenes. I am also going to re-light an old flame, quite literally, as I bring my blacksmithing forge to life again and hope to share some of that fun hobby here as well!

Here’s to a fun and active rest of 2018! *Cheers*

A lecture needed,

Loud ranting given instead,

With the world I sympathize,

Wading through all of the lies,

Leaders do speak,

Their outlooks seem bleak,

Yet they’re playing with all of our lives!

Away without leave…

 Mindfully dwell here each day…

So much more to share.
