Talk Like a Pirate Day (poem)

Shiver me timbers, how could it be?

Missed me day, ’twas out at sea…

Worry ye not fer I came just to blather,

Come over closer or not if ye’d rather…

Nary came back, twas a treacherous gale,

Broke down me mast and ripped through me sail…

Me crew and me thought we’d bested the harm,

When up from the depths came a beast with eight arms…

Grabbed hold o’me deck, took a sailor or two,

Then slipped back away, back into the blue…

Tis not just a yarn, I be tellin it true,

Ye be careful out there, or might be it gets you!

I hope no-one else missed that yesterday was Talk Like A Pirate Day! Anyway, I hope you liked this poem. I still can’t believe the day slipped by me. I had fun with it last year and again just now. Maybe I have an infatuation with yon pirate talk. (Looking forward to next year!)

Ode to Mushrooms (poem)

Mushrooms taste so wonderfully good,

We add them to everything we possibly could…

They spruce up some rice, and smother the chicken,

So tastefully making each dish finger lickin…

They’re one thing we buy on each grocery trip,

As both me and my wife think think they’re totally hip…

I know they deserve more wonderful prose,

But I’ve run out of time so this poem I will close.

Web of Bright Golden Silk (poem)

Built with exemplary skill,

A web of bright golden silk…

Is placed on this lovely hill,

To capture bugs and that ilk…

So nice a place to call home,

Among the greens and bright reds…

A beautiful place to roam,

For the builder each insect dreads.
