Skeleton In The Closet, A Limerick

halloween-157045_640

Opened my closet to get out some pants,

That’s when I saw it oh my what’s the chance,

A skeleton bare,

Was just standing there,

Seems he had died while in dance.

Written for prompt #14 of Monstrous Halloween,You open your closet to find an actual skeleton, how did it get there?

I guess it doesn’t offer much in explanation but I was in the mood for a silly limerick, especially after #FOWC prompt:silly!

I would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for you meddling kids! – Monstrous Halloween

“Ruh Roh Raggy!”, a familiar voice sounded.

The stuffed Scooby hopped over, his big wet tongue drenching me thoroughly.

“Scoob! Did you hear that?”, I asked.

“A gh-gh-gh-ghost!”, said a panicked Scooby and he bounded around the corner to flee. He ran smack into the ghost, as usual, tackling the poor decoration in the process.

The magical moment lasted only minutes when my favorite stuffed animal, a Scooby-Doo, came to life. It was wonderful!

It brought back so many fun memories of Scooby and his gang. I imagine it is one of the reasons I am so fond of Halloween. This show covered some type of haunt or spook each episode and Halloween is the only time of the year that we capture a bit of that fun in real life. It was one of my favorite shows! I still enjoy watching it and am glad to see new Scooby and Gang movies get created from time to time. And I still have my Scooby-Doo stuffed animal, pictured above! 🙂

When I read this prompt for the Monstrous Halloween writing prompt series:”Your favorite child’s toy comes to life”, I couldn’t wait to share this!

What would happen if your favorite child’s toy came to life? Tell us about it in the comments below or in a post on your own blog and link back here for all to share in the fun!

The Problem Is Real, A Twittering Tale

architecture-art-assorted-1742370

The problem is real.
Stats do not justify the hours poured into the daily posts.
Like the leaves and flowers that dried up with winter, so too, has the inspiration.
Posts dwindle, so do followers.
Not this year, this year is different!
Inspiration secured and nailed to the wall.

278 Characters for Twittering Tales #158 hosted by Kay Myrman.

I can hardly mark this as fiction though as it seems to be my standard operating procedure these last couple years. The year gets busy with the holidays. My wife gets less happy that I am spending time trying to get a daily post or two in. I am not seeing beautiful trees and flowers to photograph for inspiration, then my posting drops off to about nothing.

I know it is anathema to growing an audience and so I sit, some what discouraged, as blogs at an age of mine have ten times the followers or more. I know I shouldn’t care about that much but there it is, staring at me. In large part due to the manner in which I post and the limited interaction I have with others.

I am very happy to see that my daily readership has improved. Thank you to everyone following along! It really makes writing so much more rewarding when you know those stories and poems are actually read!

This year I intend to keep active and not drop off into the abyss come January. I have spread out into more challenges, photo fiction and otherwise, to maintain that source of inspiration for writing fun and interesting stories and poems. I will try to work on depth a bit too as I tend to write a lot of whimsical light content rather than emotionally charged deep reading.

Again, a thanks to everyone following along! Thanks for reading and have a great day!!

Crazy Hour Comes, A Rhyming Revelation – Monstrous Halloween

The bells doth toll a thirteenth time,

The world falls in to a state of crime,

All have gone crazy, no one can explain,

Where ever you turn, seems someone is slain,

The bells toll again, once an hour is done,

You realize just now, you’re holding a gun,

What have you done? Who did you kill?

How can you begin to swallow this pill?

Such secrets, it seems, will stay with you,

As no one remembers and none have a clue.
