I would go on about how wonderful all of the entries are but, alas, no-one else has joined in the fun so it would just be me tooting my own horn. I know some of the prompts are wacky, but there are a few one word prompts scattered throughout if the others seem too odd or daunting.

Poor Tree, A Tale For Monstrous Halloween

A wail rang out on the hillside, “I used to be beautiful! Oh, oh, what’s happened?, My leaves! Falling out everywhere!“, the lonely tree exclaimed.

“You’re still beautiful!”, I say, “Look at how you accent this sunset!”

Then why doesn’t anyone come and sit under me anymore. My green leaves were wonderful and even when I got highlights of color people would sit under me just to gaze at my loveliness! No, no one comes now because I am ugly!“, cried the tree.

“You are not ugly! Your branches still look amazing! Just wait for the snow, when you are tinged in fresh white highlights! That will draw some people.”, I said, trying to console the poor tree.

“And then in spring,” I continued, “In spring you well get a new coat of leaves, as green as anything! Surely that will bring the people over!”

Still sobbing but relenting a bit the tree said, “Are you sure? I suppose you’re right. Thank you my friend.

“Any time, my dear tree.”, I said. “I really mean it, even without your leaves you ARE beautiful. With time, they will even grow back anyway.”

Fortune Of My Life, A Brief Poem

Bold new day,

Suns greets us brightly,

Trees barely sway,

Gold touches lightly,

All these pretty scenes,

The fortune of my life,

With everything it brings,

To share it with my wife.

Thank you for stopping in and have a good night. Perhaps you will look on an early sun tomorrow just as beautiful!

Road Closed, Detour – A Poem Encounter

Driving down a well known road,

Come to find it’s closed,

Temper flares, does not explode,

Yet still I feel we’re hosed,

What’s that there, a detour sign,

Surely that’s the way,

Turn now left, We’ll be just fine,

Just watch for signs I say,

After just a little while,

The road gives ways to grass,

This little trip, now a trial,

Oh how the minutes pass,

Among some trees, we’ve lost the path,

Do you see that just there?

A cauldron boils, a slimy bath,

Could there be witches near?

Cackles ring through out the air,

As witches now arrive,

“Come stay with us! We’ve much to share”

“You need not fear your lives.”

“Unless, of course, you’re rude to us”

The witches say in turn.

I look to you, “Can them we trust?”

“Or will they make us burn?”

With little choice, we join the three,

We tell them we are lost,

“Of course!”, they say, with grins of glee,

“For all the signs we tossed”,

Grimalda was the nicest one,

Then Harriet, her twin,

The other with hair in a bun,

Named Frieda, is quite thin,

They offer us, some of their brew,

Not wanting to offend,

We ate with them, was quite a stew,

The herbs a perfect blend,

They wished us well after some time,

Then sent us on our way,

And as we left, I formed this rhyme,

“Was quite a night!”, I say.
