Little Spider, A Short Poem

Little spider builds so neat,

With sticky threads like glue,

Web of angles is complete,

Has caught the morning dew,

Such amazing architects,

Constructing with eight legs,

Over night such web erects,

Between some posts and pegs.

—————

Spiders come in so many shapes, sizes, and types: tiny, large, huge, fuzzy, bulbous, flat, web builders, ground hunters. Some of their webs are amazing to look at and really capture insects well.

Love Birds, A Poem of Admiration

Two love birds together,

Enjoying the scene,

A day of great weather,

On grass that’s still green,

Not far from the water,

So careful they walked,

Tried not to cause bother,

But think they felt stalked,

I watched them a bit,

As they waddled away,

Their love’s one that won’t quit,

Could see that plain as day.

——————-

They make quite a mess when around in large numbers but they are quite interesting to watch. They have some admirable traits. Their mate loyalty among the best of those.

I hope you enjoyed this!

Have a great day and thank you for reading!

Prison Break, A Flash Fiction

“We can’t just leave them here!”, yelled Thomas, “They will know where to start looking!”

“You’re right”, Mitchell replied. “Scotty, put the oars in them and push them back out onto the river”, he ordered.

“Why should I be the one to get wet!?”, argued Scotty, “That water is freezing!”

“Because I say so”, shouted Michael, “Just do it!”

“Do it yourself!”, Scotty said crossing his arms.

“We don’t have time for this!”, Thomas cut in, “Fine! I’ll do it”

As Thomas was pushing the kayaks out into the river a police helicopter flew over looking for the escapees. They spotted the bright kayaks immediately, along with the men nearby on the shore.

Police cars showed up only moments later, sirens blaring.

As they were loaded into the back of a police transport van, Mitchell muttered, “I had told him camouflage kayaks! Ralphie never gets anything right!”

Summer Camp of Horror, A Haunting Tale – Monstrous Halloween

tents-2526902_1280

I remember it like it was yesterday though I was only fourteen years old at the time. We had been at camp for several days. Odd things had been happening but the counselors believed it was campers playing pranks on one another and ignored the signs. At first, it was only minor annoyances. A couple boys locked out of their cabin. A canoe tipped over, spilling out its riders.

It apparently didn’t have the intended effect, something wanted us gone! The events took on a more macabre turn.

Justin was on the diving board getting a good bounce for a dive. He jumped up, and when he came back down, the board didn’t spring. Instead it was like he came down on concrete, breaking his leg.

Michael was roasting a marshmallow on a stick. The stick sprouted thorns which pierced through his palm. I’m sure he still has the scars.

It was getting serious, people were getting hurt. The counselors finally started to see something wasn’t right but it was too late to save Charlie. He had been headed back to his cabin after our nightly campfire songs and crossed paths with a possessed porcupine. His screams drew everyone over. He was covered from head to toe in quills, eyes pierced, blood streaming everywhere. He died, convulsing on the ground as we all looked on in horror.

How do you forget something like that? I certainly never will.
