Through Rose’s Colored Glasses, A Sunday Photo Fiction

Rose Sinclair put her special colored glasses on, she was now ready. Dressed in white, she always dressed in white for this, she headed out the door.

She hopped on the bus, looking at each passenger in turn as she walked down the aisle toward the back. Through her glasses, she could see the aura cast by loneliness about the various people she passed.

Ah, there. She thought to herself, approaching a dishevelled older woman with a lost expression.

“Hello, my name is Rose. Mind if I sit here?” She gestured to the empty seat beside the woman. The woman shook her head but didn’t make eye contact. Rose sat down, thinking of how to get the woman to engage.

“Had a long day, have you? I used to have one of the worst jobs. No one would believe it could be so bad. So what do you do?”

Meekly the woman replied, “I clean, offices and restrooms mostly. My name is Jane. No one usually notices me.”

“Well Jane, you stood out to me. You are not as alone as you believe. God loves you! Your daughter loves you too. She has been wanting to hear from you but worries you still won’t speak to her.”

The woman’s eyes shone a little brighter her loneliness aura dimming a little. “Really? How could you know?!”

“Let’s just say I have connections.”, Rose said. The bell rang as the bus started coming to a stop. “Oh, this is my stop. It was nice to chat with you Jane. Give your daughter a call.”, she waved and stepped off the bus.

Jane was still watching Rose as the bus drove away, life renewed in her eyes.

We all need to be loved. So often we’re our own biggest obstacles for others to reach us. Building up walls, isolating ourselves until we get lost in loneliness. Many of us could use a woman like Rose to jumpstart the reconnecting process.

Thank you for reading and have a good night!

As The Day Fades Away, A Dusk Time Poem

As the day fades away,

So much color burst,

An awesome display,

Fulfills the eyes’ thirst,

As night comes to play,

Day’s farewell is first.

The horizon two nights ago. I love a good sunset 🙂

I chose this picture as inspiration for today based on Fandango’s One Word Challenge: horizon

I hope you enjoy the sunset as much as I do!

Have a great Sunday! Rest up for the coming week!

PS. It’s a shame the default editor doesn’t allow better formatting. Or maybe I just need to learn more. Any tips?

Summer’s Sprouts, A Pondering Poem

Summer’s sprouts,

Autumn’s doubts,

Will they survive the cold

Winter brings,

Into Spring

They may get no more old.

Still today,

No decay,

They are not quite yet dead,

So enjoy,

Don’t be coy,

Take in their leaves of red!

These little guys were growing under the slide at a nearby playground. Sprouted in the mulch spread around there. It made me wonder if they had a chance to survive the winter or not and hence this little rhyme was born.

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

Night Time Thrill, A Bit of Prose

Vampires,

Drinkers of blood,

Hunters quite undead,

Night fliers,

Make terrors flood,

People come to dread,

Chasing you,

You try to run,

Getting desperate now,

Options few,

Soon comes the sun,

Hold them off some how,

Quickly hide,

Light crests the hill,

Villains fly away,

Eased inside,

Survived the thrill,

You live another day.

3-4-5, ABC patterned prose today.

A response to the Monstrous Halloween prompt series, #18, One Word Prompt: vampire

Word of the Day Challenge: desperate

I hope you have a great day!
