Painting Autumn, A Process Poem

Brushes at the ready,

Add some luscious greens,

Blending all together,

Building up the scene,

Add some drying grasses,

A touch of bare now things,

Now some color splashes,

The Autumn changes bring,

A bit of brown on edges,

The bleed softens the trees,

A water color painting,

Nature’s changes freeze.

This isn’t a great photograph by any means. In fact, it is so poor it reminded me more of a water color painting the way most of the edges were captured soft and blended. Which, in turn, inspired this bit of writing about composing the scene as a painting. Not a total loss at least 🙂

Thanks or visiting. Feel free to stay and have a look around. Might be something more you’ll enjoy!

Have a great day!

H-A-U-N-T-E-D F-O-R-E-S-T, A Pictureless Poem

Headed deep into the wood,

Around us it grew dark,

Up ahead a stranger stood,

No others in this park,

Turned to us, his face a mask,

Eyes were glowing red,

Dripped some blood into a flask,

Filled our cores with dread,

Over head a mist moved in

Rolled along the ground,

Echoes of a mass of ghosts,

Sounded all around,

Terrified we fled this scary host.

Eye of Mine, A Stream of Conciousness Poem

Drawn by my hand,

Scratched in the sand,

Cast forth some lines,

This eye of mine,

Starts to emerge,

Now on the verge,

Makes quite a scene,

What does it mean,

Place to begin,

From deep within,

Just trace them now,

Get lost some how,

Into the task,

Reveals the mask,

Of who you are,

Can see quite far,

Start to relax,

No sudden acts,

Some stress is gone,

Time to move on.

————————-

So there are some ‘mindfulness’ stations along this one walking path I visit and one of the stations is a small sand garden with a couple of attached rakes to draw in the sand. It asks you to reflect on the sand as you smooth it, reflect on the lines as you make them, and generally be mindful of what you are doing and your stream of thoughts. While not exactly a Zen garden I am sure those were the inspiration for this station.

So I took a few moments the other day, smoothed out the sand and began to draw. I had intended to draw more of a spiral pattern but pulled the rake in too linear of a fashion ended up with the image above, which reminds me of an eye.

It is a relaxing endeavor somewhat akin to meditation and I would recommend it to everyone to try if you get a chance. Any sand will do 😉

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
