Dianthus, FOTD & Poem

Shining bright,

Radiant,

Let the world see you,

Awesome sight,

Decadent,

Showing colors true,

Personal,

Humorous,

Giving something deep,

Wholesome pearl,

Glamorous,

Something they can keep.

This is my flower of the day for the October 28th, 2019 challenge hosted by Cee. The poem is a stream of thoughts inspired by the vibrant almost glowing petals and carried on through a radiant person.

I hope you enjoyed the pair. Thank you for stopping in!

Have a great day!

Tethered Souls, A Darkish Poem for Monstrous Halloween

Carried on the inside,

This demon deep within,

Holds on to the dark side,

Hidden by my skin,

Hard to keep it trapped for long,

Some days it must come out,

Pressure building up too strong,

The pain it makes me shout,

Tables turned, it now controls,

This body that we share,

Goodness trapped by tethered souls,

My friends, I urge, beware!

I hope you’re having a delightfully spooky Halloween if you enjoy that sort of thing. I know I do but I also know that not everyone celebrates it.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Flowers Again, A Sunday Photo Fiction

Flowers again. Oh what did he do now? Judy thought to herself. Anytime her husband John bought her flowers, it always came with some confession.

This time sunflowers, her favorite, were sitting on the table when she came home from work. He really must have done something serious but he was nowhere to be found.

Her phone started ringing, the name displayed, ‘John’.

“Hi honey”, she answered, “the flowers are lovely!”

“Uhm, yeah, I’m, uh, glad you like them”, John replied.

She paused, waiting for him to start into his confession.

“Are you sitting down?”, he started. “You should be sitting down for this.”

“OK John, I’m sitting”, she replied.

“First, Judy, I hope you know that I love you so much! No one else would have put up with me. I’m thankful you did”

“What are you talking about? I love you John, of course I put up with you”, Judy cut in.

“Let me finish, please. I…I’m calling from heaven. I really did it this time, my truck slid off the road into a ravine. I will wait for you here one day but please don’t rush. I hope you find peace and live a long life! I will always love you.”

The line went dead. The sobs took her as soon as his message sunk in. John was gone.

Blood Moon Rising, Monstrous Halloween

“THE END IS NEAR!”

A sign exclaimed worn by a gruff looking man shuffling down the road.

We were driving home from an early Halloween party, dusk just settling in. Rising into the sky was the full moon, the full blood red moon. “Why’s the moon red, Dad?”, my young son asked from the back seat.

“Well “, I started explaining, knowing the answer, “the Earth is in just the right position between the moon and the sun that the light that reaches the moon has to pass through the Earth’s atmosphere. The blue light gets filtered out so only the red light is left to reflect from the moon. So the moon is red this time.”

“No, Dad, I don’t think so. I think the moon is just angry.”
