Redemption, A Needed Poem

You can not earn redemption,

It’s achieved by harder means,

Accepting when it’s offered,

Simply isn’t in our genes,

We feel the need to struggle,

To feel we meet the worth,

A tit for tat debacle,

That’s ingrained in us since birth,

But I’m here to tell you,

The kind but simple truth,

Accepting when it’s offered,

Is a certain path to soothe,

So be open to forgiveness,

It’s available to you,

You already have the worth because,

God’s love for you is true.

The need for redemption is strong in most people as it is a need to find self forgiveness. Once you feel your worth has dropped due to some perceived violation, the natural appeal is to somehow earn back that worth.

It is a struggle millions of people face daily. However, all that struggle never quite makes you feel adequate again, and it likely never will.

What is needed is much harder, accepting the forgiveness and redemption offered to you out of love. You are worth the forgiveness because your loved one has deemed you so. Even when the loved one is God. Learning to accept this forgiveness is to learn you can move on. It is going to be OK.

I hope you have been able to accept forgiveness in your life and self forgiveness where it is needed.

Room Service – A Flash Fiction for #FFFC

Gregory had just finished transferring the photo set from his camera to his laptop. All that was left was sending this packet of damning photos to his contact at the agency. Just then, there was a knock at the door.

“Room service”, spoke the voice from the other side.

It was about time, it seemed like hours had passed since he had placed his order and the grumbles in his stomach had been distracting. He walked over and opened the door. The staff member handed him a tray with everything he had ordered; except the coffee.

“Uh, there’s supposed to be coffee too!”, he said in an annoyed tone.

“Yes sir, I must have left it on the cart over there. If you will just follow me, I will give it to you there.”

Gregory didn’t think that was very good service but with his work complete at least he wouldn’t have to stay here another night. He followed the man to the cart where the carafe of warm dark liquid was waiting.

“My apologies, sir”, said the man as he handed the coffee and a mug to Gregory. “Do you need anything else?”

“No, thank you.”, said Gregory and he headed back to his room. He set the coffee and mug on the tray with the rest of his breakfast and made to carry it to the little table by the window. As he was moving around the bed, he dropped the tray in shock, spilling its contents all over.

His laptop and camera were no longer there.

Talk about a bad day. Hopefully your day goes better than Gregory’s.

Harvest Done, A Calming Poem

Harvest is done,

‘neath the setting sun,

All is silent and calm,

Peaceful and cool,

Deeply beautiful,

Silent reciting of psalms,

Drifting to sleep,

Started counting sheep,

Welcome the rising moon,

Dream something deep,

A wish you can keep,

Bringing your soul in tune.

——————-

Wishing everyone a restful night.

Have a good night.
