Christmas is near,
The blooms now flare,
With holiday cheer,
No longer bare,
This cactus green,
Waves flowers now,
A brightened scene,
It knows, somehow,
It’s time once more,
To light the dark,
With joy of yore,
Good tidings hark.

Our Christmas Cactus, so named because it tends to bloom in early winter, has donned its lovely bright petals.
Curiously, the original species is known as Schlumbergera and came from Brazil where they are known as a ‘May flower’ due to the time of blooming in the southern hemisphere.
There’s a bit of Jeopardy type knowledge to start your day 🙂
Thanks for dropping by and have a great day!
