Thankful For: Quiet Nights

Each day up to and including Thanksgiving I will post about one thing I am thankful for. I invite you to do the same if you like the idea.

Today, I am thankful for quiet nights.

After a busy day, one of my favorite things is a quiet and peaceful night. In the evening, I prefer the quiet to be able to recharge. I am generally introverted and just continue to drain when I am around very many people so by the end of most days I am ready to retreat.  It’s even better when the quiet extends throughout the night allowing me to get a full night of sleep. I wake up feeling much better and the “batteries” full to interact with everyone else for another day.

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful For: OTA Television

Each day up to and including Thanksgiving I will post about one thing I am thankful for. I invite you to do the same if you like the idea.

Today, I am thankful for over the air television, also known as broadcast television.

Broadcast television has really exploded with the conversion to digital broadcasting as many of the base stations are now sporting two or more separate content broadcasts.  Positioned where our house is we are able to pick up over 60 different content streams from multiple nearby cities. Mainstream networks as well as networks broadcasting movies most hours of the days and also old television shows from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. There are multiple streams of public broadcasting content as well. Enough variety that it is easy to find something for every interest. It really saves a lot of money versus paying for cable or satellite and passes the time just as well when desired.

What are you thankful for today?

Poem: World Wide Web

Sifting through the sludge,

Wading past some grudge…

World wide web it’s known,

Oh how vast it’s grown…

Searching takes more work,

Due to all the quirk…

Barely worth the toil,

Yet here in this soil…

Finding stuff to like,

Along this tiring hike…

Diamonds here and there,

Gems that shine and flare…

You can find some too,

Muddled in this glue…

Keep an open eye,

Lest you pass them by.
