Stunned (story, part 3 [Mars Adventure])

This is part 3 of a Mars Adventure. If you missed other parts you can find them here: Part 1 – Dismal and Part 2 – Eruption

Red dust, highlighted by white marble specks, drifted back down to where Eric stood, stunned in place. His mind was racing as the scene replayed itself in his mind, again and again.

Eric of the Earth‘, the feminine voice had called. Somehow the figure knew of him and was speaking directly to him, a plea for help. He could not fathom just what he, a young man drug to this vast wasteland by his family, could do to help but he knew deep within he was going to try.

He gathered up the sack of ore, the load seeming a bit lighter with his new found purpose, and resumed his trek to the nearby settlement. His mind raced with questions he hoped could be answered, yet he did not know by whom. Did he dare tell anyone just what he had witnessed?

April 2nd (poem)

The coast is clear, it’s safe at last,

No more to fear, the 1st has passed…

That fateful day, on world wide sites,

With fools at play, to see who bites…

But now day 2, has come to save,

It comforts you, it makes you brave…

Next craze is now, a year away,

Enjoy somehow, this bright new day,

Just a bit of silly prose. I know many people just don’t bother with the internet much on April Fools day with all the crazy antics many sites put on. Such sentiments inspired this post about being thankful for April 2nd!

Have a great day!

WOTD: Eruption (story, part 2 [Mars Adventure])

Welcome to part 2 of this story. If you need to catch up or recap, here is part 1: Dismal.

The unnatural winds lifted the sand from around Eric and the statue, sending it skyward like an eruption from the earth. As the sand was pulled from beneath him, Eric sank lower beside the statue, giving him the sensation that the statue was growing forth from the ground.

The wind continued swirling around, a calm center settling in around him. Towering over him now was the statue of the most beautiful woman Eric could imagine. The blue glow continued to pulse from the ring. The statue a soft blue as the light reflected off of the stone.

Cracks began to form across the surface of the statue. It began to crumble. In his mind the words came, a melodic voice, soft yet strained, Find me, Eric of the Earth. Save me!

The statue continued to crumble into dust, the ring pulsing faster. The wind swept back in to the center, carrying the white dust up with the sand, the ring glowing brightly lifted high until out of sight. A slight clap resounded, as of thunder, and the wind was gone. Red dust floated back down around him.
