Go For The Marigold! A Summer Ending Poem

Marigolds, so colorful,

Making their debut

Picturesque, wonderful,

Quite a lovely view…

Autumn tends to jeopardize,

This solemn quiet scene…

In weeks we will not recognize,

As browns replace the green.

Marigolds have quite a signature appearance in their yellows, oranges, and, well, golds. I’ve always enjoyed them. Have you?

Photo and Poem, Resplendent

Knowledge of life, encoded within,

About to be carried on these particles thin…

Spread about by indifferent breezes,

Forceful gusts like so many sneezes…

Poised for now, where once was a bloom,

In days nearby, this fluff starts to zoom…

And though it will seem a beauty lost,

The future sprouts, more than make up the cost.

I really adore this picture. It is one of my favorite photos from a recent walk through a meadow trail. The fluffy white down of this plants seeds yet untouched by the wind. The little yellow highlights on the milky white along with the deep and bold greens of the surrounding vegetation make for a lovely image.

I wish I could say that same for the poem :p

Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

The Secret to Wealth, A Fictional Tale

Michael loved mazes. So when he spied the book sitting on a table in his grandfather’s study, he just could not resist. He had been told never to touch the books in that study but he figured that was because old people tended to hide cash in their books, and he wouldn’t take any if he found it anyway. So there he was, standing beside the glass table examining the book.

This book had latches that were currently locked closed but Michael didn’t see any key hole to unlock them. That didn’t matter to him though, what had drawn him here was the intricate maze-like pattern on the cover.

Michael began to trace his finger along the path, working his way through the labyrinth design. As he continued along he realized his finger had ended up where he started and figured he must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, so he continued to trace through the maze, watching for the wrong turn.

Again his fingers traced over his chosen starting spot. One more time he thought to himself, certain he would see his error this time. His finger once more traced over his starting point and immediately the design started to glow. With a popping sound the latches were released causing Michael to draw his hand back quickly.

The book opened itself, the pages turning quickly. With the pages coming to rest at last, Michael peered at what now lay displayed. A photograph, well not quite a photograph, but a drawn image of great detail much like a photograph. In the image was Michael himself, standing over an open book on the glass table in his grandfather’s study. His grandfather, standing there behind him.

The detail was amazing! Even the design on Michael’s sweater was captured here in this image. Michael nearly jumped out of his skin when he felt the hand now on his shoulder, his grandfather’s hand. He hadn’t heard the man enter the study yet here he was.

His grandfather spoke, “I suppose it is time to share with you the secret to our family’s wealth. What you have before you now is our very own ‘Book of Seeing’ allowing us a glimpse into the near future anywhere in the world.”

Race To The Stars, A Lofty Poem

Clouds within reach, yet still growing tall,

Still green and lush, despite coming fall…

A race between friends, on their way to the sky,

No matter who wins, both reaching quite high…

And after that, raise higher their bars,

Their wishful thoughts, to reach the bright stars…

One way to success, set the bar ahead of where you are now and not quite where you want to end up. Once that goal is reached, raise the bar higher. Repeat until you achieve your final goals. In other words, take manageable steps on your journeys in life!

Have a great day and thank you for reading!
