Thankful For: Restful Sundays

Each day up to and including Thanksgiving I will post about one thing I am thankful for. I invite you to do the same if you are so inclined.

Today I am thankful for restful Sundays.

With a busy week behind and a busy week ahead, I am thankful for the Sundays where I am able to take it easy and rest. A day of rest and worship really helps physically and spiritually recover from what has been and prepare for what comes next. Unfortunately, I am not always able to rest on Sunday when our busy life overflows even into this special day. I am ever more thankful for the ones I do get because of this.

Do you have restful Sundays? A different day to rest? Or no downtime days at all?

Scene: Seeds of the Future

[Begin scene]

An early afternoon, the sky washed out appearing nearly solid white…

On a hill overlooking a small pond stand many dull tan and gray stalks swaying silently in the breeze…

Their tops adorned with spikey pods shaped like long slender eggs covered in spines and balancing on a stick…

These  rather dangerous looking pods guarding the seeds of the future for this unique place.

#Future Secured

Thankful For: The Internet

Each day up to and including Thanksgiving I will post about one thing I am thankful for. I invite you to do the same if you are so inclined.

Today, I am thankful for the internet.

The internet did not yet exist in its widespread form in my childhood. It was not until I entered college that it started to become main stream. Now it has vastly progressed to the point of nearly being a requirement just to navigate daily life.

What I most like about the internet is the ability to reach out to people all over the world. It has allowed us to communicate in near real time with anyone just about anywhere.  It has opened cultures that were once out of reach and allowed us to more closely relate.  With it we are able to see better that people are people no matter where they are. Same types of wants, same types of needs, and less reasons for an “US vs THEM” mentality.

I love being able to play games with friends from other continents. I love being able to talk about similarities and differences in cultures and lives with people from all backgrounds. I find it interesting to see just where the views for the blog come from and wonder how close to my daily life theirs may be. And I love having that vast quantity of information at my fingertips, even if it does take some work filtering what is good from what is not.

It doesn’t exist without its downsides but I believe it has been a beneficial creation to people the world over.

What do you think about it?
