Thankful For: My Job

Each day up to and including Thanksgiving I will post about one thing I am thankful for. I invite you to do the same if you like the idea.

Today, I am thankful for my job.

First off I am thankful just to have a job as some are not that fortunate. Beyond that though, I am thankful for the job I actually do. Oh sometimes I complain about one aspect or another of my job but overall it is a fairly decent job and often times can be quite interesting. I work in process control for a local manufacturer and get to work with many new technologies, in short I am a computer programmer. Anything from programming simple applications to interfacing with industrial equipment. Managing application and database servers, building web based applications or low level graphics processing. I get to cover quite a broad spectrum of what computers are capable of and that keeps me interested and engaged. Honk if you like your job!

Scene: Dubious Packaging

A warm afternoon, the blue sky dotted with puffy clouds…

Nestled in a bed of drying tan grasses is an interesting plant with what appears to be medieval implements of war at the ready…

Looking like something intended to end life, rather than harbor the beginnings of next year’s life are some dubious seed pods…

Covered in spines nearly completely around the seeds within are well protected…

Should anything get too close and become attached, they will likely travel some distance before sprouting anew in the spring, as these pods double as a means to be spread…

The scene reminds that fall offers beauty in textures even where color is not on display.

Thankful For: The Sun

Each day up to and including Thanksgiving I will post about one thing I am thankful for. I invite you to do the same if you like the idea.

Today, I am thankful for the sun.

Without the sun we could not survive on this fine planet but it provides us with so much more than just survival. The sun is simply beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset. Paired with our atmosphere it provides very colorful displays of hope and well being. And warmth, to feel its rays begin to warm you on a chilly morning is wonderful. Unfortunately, in this part of the world for the next several months, the days are often over cast with clouds and the sun is not visible. I guess I will have to appreciate it more on the days when the skies are clear.

Thankful For: My Mother

Today, I am thankful for my mother.

My mother is an amazing person who has given us, her children, so much of herself. She has raised us into successful contributing adults and along the way found room in her heart to provide a safe and loving home to many foster children as well. Today is her birthday and we all gathered yesterday to celebrate this special day and wish her many more. We are very thankful to have her for our mother and hope she knows how much we love her. Happy Birthday, Mom!
