When walking they waddle, but now lie here still,
These geese nestled soundly on this tiny hill…
Resting up now for their upcoming trip,
A straight trek due south as the temperatures dip…
For now they seem to be enjoying the day,
Probably hoping that trip‘s still far away.
I suppose instead of the light hearted poem I could have gone into a verbose piece on the interesting habits of these migratory birds. For instance, did you know they are generally monogamous? Chosing to stay with the same partner for years at a time. Pretty fascinating, especially when you see so many travelling together.
Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

i heard them flying over last night, but they might be some of the ones who no longer bother to migrate.

Thank you. Yeah, there seem to be quite a few that stick out the winters around here as well.
