Halloween, A Year Past, First 5 Days (collection)

One of the things I enjoy about some of the content I create is that it is timeless, as enjoyable now as when it was first unveiled to the world. This post compiles a collection of the first 5 Halloween Challenge posts I published for 2017. I hope you enjoy them!

Attempt at a Haiku for JNW’s Halloween Challenge: Night

Night, Cloak of Darkness,

Hiding everything from us,

the things that go “Bump!”.

For the Party day of JNW’s Halloween Challenge I’ve decided on a flash fiction.

[Begin scene]

Jones arrived at the party, not sure he should have come. No-one called him by his first name, just “Jones”, as if not caring to get to know him.

Costumed as he was, it was unlikely anyone would recognize him anyway.

Then he saw her. Fitting that she should be dressed like an angel. The girl of his dreams, come from heaven, likely to fly right by.

Unable to tame his heart, he started to turn away, afraid to face such disappointment.

“Michael?”, his name like a song in her voice. He looked at her.

“I am glad you came!”, she said, smiling at him.

His costume did not hide him as he thought it would but it didn’t matter now.

He smiled back. She knew his name!

For today’s challenge of JNW’s Halloween Challenge – Day 11 – Hayride, I decided to try another Haiku. I hope you enjoy!

[Begin scene]

A horse drawn hayride,

Such a fun fall time event,

Ink stains on his face.

[End scene]

I don’t know if the picture helps or takes away from the Haiku.

The prompt for day 12 of JNW’s Halloween Challenge is “bat”. Let’s be creative.

[Begin scene]

The once was a goat named, “Bat”,

For his ears made him look like that…

One day in the barnyard he sat,

And said “I’d look better wearing a hat!”…

“Naaaay!”, said Horse, “You don’t need a hat.”,

“Baaaah!”, said Sheep, “You look fine like that.”…

“Cluck, cluck”, said Chicken, “We like you for you.”,

“Thank you!”, said Bat, “I like all of you too!”

And he didn’t feel the need to wear a hat again for his ears to be cloaked.

[End scene]

The challenge prompt for day 13 of JNW’s Halloween Challenge is “broom” Here we go!

[Begin Scene]

A witch flies across the sky on her broom,

Cloaked in the darkness of night…

Visible only when in front of the moon,

on her way to give someone a fright!

[End Scene]

If you noticed, those are up to the 13th day of the challenge, I hadn’t joined in right away.

Have a fun Friday!!
