A cliff face of gray stone, the surface broken by a deep cavern…

The cave, shrouded in darkness extends beyond, unable to see where it ends…

The temperature at the cave entrance noticeably cooler, shielded from the warming sun…

Rock formations visible just inside, the exposed floor rough and uneven…

All manner of creature might live here, do you go in?

Actually, the photo is a fraud, it IS an original photo, just not a cave in a stone cliff, it is a picture of the end of a log with a hollow spot decayed into into. Surprising similar look though, a photo perfect for the Daily Post weekly photo challenge: Scale I think.
